Con este tatuaje quise representar la belleza y diferentes formas de renacer en distintos momentos del arte. Empezando por la parte superior, hay un abanico con plumas de pavo real y ojos. Esto viene de un mito grecolatino en el cual Zeus quiso acostarse con la mortal, Ío. Para ello Zeus tenía que convertirse en cualquier otra cosa, porque si se mostraba en su aspecto divino, fulminaba a las mortales. Así que se convirtió en nube, pero Hera (la esposa de Zeus) estuvo apunto de pillarlos en el acto, para evitarlo Zeus transformó a la mortal en una vaca. Hera no creyó que se tratara de una simple vaca así que le exigió a Zeus que se la regalara, Hera muy precavida ordenó a Argos Panoptes (un ser de 100 ojos) que la vigilara, pues Argos al dormir sólo cerraba 50 ojos. Pasó el tiempo y Zeus desesperado mandó a Hermes a que con su caduceo (hay diferentes versiones) durmiera al bicho para mas tarde cortarle la cabeza , acabar con él y por fin tener sexo con la bella Ío. Hermes, así lo hizo, pero un tanto arrepentido le ofreció a Hera la cabeza de Argos Panoptes con los 100 ojos, y ésta para honrar a su fiel sirviente colocó esos ojos en su pavo real. El pavo real es uno de los atributos de Hera, y por ello para identificarla, en las pinturas esta diosa suele ir acompañada de un pavo real.
La manilla del abanico quise que fuera una concha, una venera. En el Renacimiento, ésta era símbolo del renacer y a veces de su centro colgaba una perla/ huevo que significaba el centro del mundo y el equilibrio del mismo. Así que me decidí por un huevo, además por las connotaciones dalinianas del mismo. Y porque puedo torcer el codo y decir "me importa un huevo" jajajajajaja. Por último, buscando cierta simetría y para acrecentar el surrealismo de este tatuaje hice que de la concha salieran 2 cuernos de rinoceronte, pues Dalí decía que eran las formas más bellas del universo. ¿y qué hay más surrealista que eso?.
With this tattoo I wanted to represent beauty and the diferent ways of rensacentism in diferent moments of the art history. Starting from the top part, there is a fan made of peacock feathers and eyes. This comes from a Greco-Latin myth where Zeus wanted to have sex with the mortal Ío. Zeus had to turn into another thing For this, otherwise with his divine apearence he will struck by lightning and kill the mortals. So he decided to turn into a cloud, but Hera ( Zeus Wife) was very close to catch them during the sexual act, to avoid it Zeus transformed the mortal girl into a cow. Hera didn´t believe that was a regular cow, so she demanded Zeus to give it to her as a present. Hera was so cautious and demanded to Argos Paoptes ( a creature of 100 eyes) to keep an eye on the cow, because Argos only closed 50 eyes when he was asleep. Time went by and desesperated Zeus asked Hermes to sleep the creature and later on cut his head off, and finally finish him up so he could have sex with the beautiful Ío. Hermes did what Zeus said, but a Little bit repentant he offered Hera Argos head, and she, to honor her faithful servant placed those eyes on her peacock. The peackock is one of the Hera atributes and that´s the reason why this goddess always appears accompanied by a peacock.
The handle of the fan I wanted it to be a Shell, a scallop. In the Renaissance this was the symbol of the rebirth and sometimes from the middle hangs a Pearl / egg that meant the center and balance of the world. I decided going for the egg, because besides the dalinian connotation I can fold my elbow back and say “me importa un huevo” (wich means “I don´t give an egg” that would translate into english as “I don´t give a shit” ). And to finish off, I was looking for some simetry to improve the surrealism of this tattoo so I had the idea of two rhino horns coming out from the Shell because Dalí said that they were the most beautiful shapes in the Universe. And is there any more surrealistic than that?
